Fundraising Tips
Send out emails through your
fundraising page on the 3-Day website. You
can use the "Email History Log" to see who has accessed your page
through the email you send.
Try the old fashioned fundraising
letter. Some of team members have
examples you can use as guides. This year, some team members are
including educational information with the donation letters, so even if
we don't get a donation, we're still increasing awareness. Also,
include a stamped and pre-addressed envelope to make it easier for your
potential donor to contribute.
Sell items on-line through eBay or
half.com, and let your buyers know
that you will donate a percentage of the sales to the 3-Day.
Did you know you can automatically
attach a signature to every email
you send? This is a great way to get the word out to everyone who gets
an email from you.
Send a press release about your
participation in the 3-Day to your
local newspaper. There's a sample
press release on the 3-Day website.
Pass out the 3-Day
business card from the 3-Day website. These can be printed on pink
cardstock, cut out and folded into the size of a business card. Or you
can cut them out and skip the folding for a perfect bookmark to hand
out to your potential donors. Each card/bookmark includes information
on the 3-Day and how people can contribute to your efforts.
If you have questions regarding donations, please check the 3-Day's
Frequently
asked fundraising questions for assistance.
All checks you receive for donations
must be made out to "Breast Cancer 3-Day" or to you. If they are made
out to you, you must endorse them before sending them to the 3-Day
Bank. The 3-Day Bank will not accept checks made out to Susan G. Komen
Foundation.
Hold a garage sale and donate the
proceeds to the 3-Day. This is a great way to get rid of unnecessary
"stuff" and get some donations. Ask family and friends to donate their
stuff to your sale or to help out pricing items. On the day of the
sale, make sure that your buyers know that the proceeds will be donated
to the 3-Day; maybe they'll make an extra contribution to the walk.
Be sure to thank your donors!
Carry your donations forms with you
EVERYWHERE. You never know when that new acquaintance might be a
potential donor.
