Training Tips from the Moleskin Milers
It is easier to prevent blisters than to treat
them. Start the walk by taking preventative measures, such as using
moleskin - of course! (Marjy)
Socks are one of the most important pieces of gear
you have on the walk. Many Milers have their own personal preferences,
such as socks with toes (sort of like the fingers of a glove) or double
layer socks. See what works for you! (Kathy and Marjy)
Duct tape prevents blisters. Yep, you read that
right! Taping places that are prone to "hot spots" will ease the
friction that causes blisters. Not all brands are created equal, but
I've found that the clear works well and isn't too obvious. (Rhonda)
As you head out the door for your training walks,
don't forget to bring an ID with you. If you don't want to lug around
your driver's license, try one of the ID wrist bands available at Road ID. Hopefully, your training
will be accident free, but just in case, these IDs can be printed with
your name, emergency contact numbers, and information on medical issues
(such as a penicillin allergy). Road ID also sells reflective items
that make you more visible to drivers. (Julie and Rhonda)

Don't forget to streeeeeeetch.
And then streeeeeeetch
some more.
And drink plenty of water. And when
you think that you have drank enough, go ahead and drink some more.
Dehydration can sneak up on you!

your shoes can affect how they fit (or don't fit)? Check
